My Story

I've always been drawn to the idea of living simply- growing my own food, baking from scratch, and creating a home filled with nourishing, homemade meals. But my journey into sourdough and gardening didn't happen overnight. My love for sourdough began with a single jar of starter thanks to my mother-in-law who gifted me all the supplies I needed to and helped me get started on "feeding" a jar full of water and flour. It wasn't long after I made that first loaf that I found myself baking loaf after loaf, experimenting with different flours, hydration levels, and fermentation times. Sourdough quickly became more than just bread - it became a creative outlet that allowed me to slow down in my busy life.

At the same time, my passion for gardening was growing. For my 29th birthday, I asked my parents for a raised garden bed. I wanted to step outside my back door and pick fresh ingredients for my meals, knowing they were grown with care and without chemicals. A few months later, I had 12 herbs and a Jalapeno plant in my (tiny) backyard. Not everyone has a space for a sprawling in-ground garden, and I wanted to prove that you don't need acres of land to grow your own food. I started my garden with my raised garden bed and container plants, learning how to maximize every inch of space. Over time, I discovered the best crops for small gardens, how to grow vertically, and creative ways to make even the tiniest spaces productive. There's something incredibly satisfying about harvesting a tomato still warm from the sun or pulling a fresh blueberry from the bush on my patio, knowing it came from my own hard work- no matter the size of the garden. Now, I love helping others realize that with a little creativity, anyone can grow fresh food, whether they have a big backyard or just a small patio.

Through this blog, I hope to inspire others to slow down, reconnect with their food, and find joy in the process of growing and baking. Whether you're here to learn how to care for a sourdough starter, start your first garden, or simply embrace a more intentional lifestyle, I'm so glad you're here. Let's dig in, bake something delicious, and create a life that's both nourishing and fulfilling - one loaf and one harvest at a time.
